The "you do know beans" Challenge

Updated: Oct 21, 2025

ree

In my family we used the expression "you don't know beans!" when someone boasted of having some information of questionable validity.

Do you indeed know "beans"about yourself? Well let's see!

You are tasked to choose 8 "activitIes" you plan to do from October 6 to December 8 and predict some metric you will log for each of your choices.

Prove you do know beans about yourself when you do those activities and get your predicted metrics within range.

For each activity you predict within range (see below) you WIN a valuable prize!

Rules

- BE SURE I (Youngs Training) AM FOLLOWING YOU EITHER ON GARMIN CONNECT (Youngs Training) OR STRAVA (Youngs Training)

-              List 8 activities you will do between Octover 6 and December 8. They may be 8 of

the same activity, 8 different activities, or any combination.

THERE'S NO DEADLINE TO ENTER AS LONG AS ALL 8 ACTIVITIES ARE PLANNED BEFORE YOU DO THEM!!!!

SO ENTER WHEN YOU WILL BUT SHOW US YOU KNOW BEANS ABOUT WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND SOME METRIC YOU WILL DO THEM IN

-              Metrics and ranges

o   Average speed (+- 3 kph only)

o   Average power (+- 60 watts)

o   Average heart rate (+- 15 beats per minute)

o   Average cadence (+- 15 rpm)

o Elapsed Time (+- 7 minutes)

o Distance (+- 3km)

-              Enter by sending your activity list to youngstraining@gmail.com

-              Roger must be able to see your activities on either Connect Garmin or Strava.

-              Be sure your activities are titled exactly as on your activity table

EXAMPLE OF COMPLETED ACTIVITY LISTS

3x Mandy 200wat ave,

2x Malibu 35kph ave.

1x t-i4 130 ave heart-rate

1x t-i6 600 watts max power

1x Alp d’ZWIFT 75 rpm ave

Roger’s  entry is an easier example:

8x Hollywood Sign 1hour 30 minutes

Results/Prizes

If your actual metrics match (within +- range); you add to a valuable prize

If you get 6 of 8 matching your predictions; you win an additional “really” valuable prize

It's not cheating to look at your Strava or Garmin activity files and see what your "usual" metrics are for a given activity.
